Harrison Clifton tossed back-to-back scoreless frames for the Spiders, allowing one hit and collecting a strikeout. Andrew Papantonis, in his first start of the season, hit a two-out double to score Jaffe and Sprague-Lott and put the Spiders within four, 6-2. Jordan Jaffe drew a walk and was followed by a base hit by Jared Sprague-Lott. The Spiders got on the board in the fourth inning. Michel went three innings, allowing six runs on six hits and one walk with two strikeouts. Longwood also tacked on four runs in the third. The Lancers jumped on the Spider pitchers, putting up two in the first inning off of starter Jake Michel.

First pitch between the Spiders and the Hawks is set for Friday at 2:30 p.m.

Richmond, now 11-14 on the season, open Atlantic 10 action this weekend, when the squad hosts Saint Joseph's.
